| Name: | Zexion (OU) |
|---|
[Character] Zexion [AKA VI, the Cloaked Schemer] [Series/Fandom] Kingdom Hearts [Original or Alternate] Original Verse [Age] 22 [Gender] Male [Species] Nobody, originally human [Sexuality] Presumably bisexual, but he seems pretty disinterested in this area. As with all Organization XIII members, Zexion is always seen wearing the standard ankle-length black, hooded cloak with black gloves and boots. A silver zipper runs down the length of the cloak, beginning at a shallow V-shaped neckline. Two metallic chains used for adjusting the hood hang down the front, connected by another chain resembling a necklace. [Personality] As mentioned before, Zexion is a rather quiet person and soft-spoken as well. However, the quietest often turn out to be the most troubling. VI is no exception; hence his nickname, the “Cloaked Schemer.” Calculating and manipulative, he prefers the shadows (both literally and figuratively) when it comes to his affairs. He dislikes associating with other people, yet he also realizes there are certain situations which he cannot face alone. In other words, he’ll usually try to get someone else to do the dirty work for him, avoiding conflict unless forced into it or when met with a problem that directly involves him. On the surface he appears to be polite to others, but with those he enjoys annoying or despises – rare for a Nobody and even rarer for the generally imperturbable Zexion – his subtle sense of sarcasm intensifies. Although he is highly distrustful of people both known and unknown, Zexion is capable of a semblance of friendship that is nevertheless only a half step above apathetic toleration. This paranoia, so to speak, had led him to become a very introverted person, an enigma who rejects any and all attempts to understand him. He also seems to shun who he was before he lost his heart, acknowledging the past if he must but typically seeing himself as above it all. [Weaknesses] Out of the entire Organization XIII, Zexion is probably the most inept when it comes to physical fighting. Thus he will often go out of his way to avoid it. He is a bit arrogant in his knowledge, but because of his self-dependency, he feels like his superiority should be recognized without effort on his part. He also has the tendency to underestimate people, especially those with strong hearts. Thus he is often caught off-guard when faced with a true challenge. His preference for reason over impulses sometimes causes him to overanalyze things. [History] Zexion was originally Ienzo, the youngest apprentice of Ansem the Wise, who was researching the ways of the heart and the doors to other worlds. Per Ienzo’s suggestion, he expanded his research to include the Heartless. Upon meeting Xehanort, another one of Ansem’s apprentices, Ienzo joined the rebellion that overthrew Ansem and consequently led to his losing his heart to the darkness. The other apprentices, who had also become Nobodies, joined together to form the group called Organization XIII. Ienzo, now Zexion, is the sixth member. In Castle Oblivion, Zexion was the leader of the Underground Organization members, which included himself, Vexen, and Lexaeus. The Aboveground members were Larxene, Axel, and Marluxia, their leader and the “Master of Castle Oblivion.” The Underground members were always treated with scorn by the others, but there was still a tenuous bond between them left over from the glory days of the Organization. However, that link was broken when one day, Zexion noticed a new scent in the Castle’s basement that was “exactly similar” to the Superior’s (meaning Xemnas, the leader of the Organization). Lacking information, the Underground members decided to wait for further developments before acting. After Zexion identified the scent as Riku’s, Vexen attempted to win the boy over to the side of the Organization – specifically to the cause of the Underground members – but he failed and was later killed by Axel. Vexen’s death confirmed Zexion and Lexaeus’s suspicions that Marluxia was trying to take over the Organization. Zexion sent Lexaeus to retrieve Riku, deciding to use him as surely as Marluxia would be using Sora. Lexaeus was killed, and Zexion was forced to try to coerce Riku into helping himself. But Larxene and Marluxia were slain shortly afterwards by Sora, and Zexion determined that it would be in his best interests to dispose of Riku. He appeared to the boy and gave him a card which would unlock a manifestation of Destiny Islands, Riku’s home. Once they were both there, Zexion started telling Riku that because he desired the darkness, he let it out and was therefore the one responsible for the destruction of his and his friends’ home. VI then created an illusion and changed his appearance to that of Sora, saying that Riku was nothing but a pawn of the darkness. Engulfed in light, Riku was visited by a manifestation of Kairi, who gave him the courage to face the both the darkness within him and the light. Thus emboldened, Riku managed to attack Zexion, who fled back to Castle Oblivion severely wounded. There, he was surprised by the presence of the Riku Replica, a duplicate of Riku created by Vexen, and Axel. Axel told the replica that all he needed to become real was to gain a power the real Riku didn’t have, basically implying that he should attack Zexion. And attack he did. But just before the last of Zexion’s life force was drained by the replica, VI found himself in a very strange place… Zexion’s control of illusions gives him the ability to create manifestations, something he relies on heavily when forced to fight. He can detect scents over large distances and judging by their intensity (or lack thereof), he is able to pick out individuals and tell where they’re located or if they’ve ceased to exist. [Weapons] Zexion’s expertise with illusions is his primary weapon, whether disguising himself as another or mimicking different skills. Engaged in actual combat, however, he uses a lexicon: a deceptively harmless-looking book capable of trapping one inside inside its covers and sending out a flurry of razor-sharp pages. It can also absorb attacks from enemies, then use their own attacks against them. [Kingdom Hearts/Zexion] © [Tetsuya Nomura/Buena Vista Games/Square Enix].
